Black History Month Art Exhibit at Huntingdon

February 24, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

The Huntingdon College Black Student Union will offer an exhibit of the work of Tuscaloosa artist Jamie Bonfiglio, Monday, February 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the College’s Seay Twins Art Gallery on the College Green. The exhibit and accompanying reception are free and open to the public and are offered in commemoration of Black History Month.

A 2003 graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham with a degree in biology, Jamie Bonfiglio was working toward her graduate degree in forensic science in San Diego when she discovered the stress-reducing power of art. She put down her magnifying glass, picked up a paintbrush, and has been painting ever since. She helped create a mural in Wetumpka, Alabama, illustrating the city’s history, and another for a Birmingham engineering firm. Her work has been exhibited at the Birmingham Museum of Art, and her portrait of Birmingham mayor Randall Woodfin hangs in his office. Ms. Bonfiglio is listed among Alabama’s Entertainers of the Year for 2019 and is one of 20 on the Reckon List of people who will shape Alabama in 2020. Works will be available for purchase at the event.

This event is part of Huntingdon’s Cultural and Community Events Series sponsored by Baptist Health, and is free and open to the public.

Seay Twins Gallery is located on the Huntingdon Green at 3140 Jim Wilson Loop East. Parking is available in the Narrow Lane Road parking lot at the College’s George Gibbs Tennis Center entrance.
