Alabama Dance Theatre presents: Mistletoe

Montgomery, Alabama… The Alabama Dance Theatre will open its 33th season with Montgomery’s holiday production of “MISTLETOE” which will be performed on November 16-17 at The Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. Over 90 dancers and artists will participate in this year’s elaborate production which features “Favorite Dances of Christmas”, an audience favorite and “Messiah”, with live music.

One of ADT’s signature pieces “Messiah”, choreographed by Amelie Hunter to George Frideric Handel’s famous score, returns by popular demand to the Davis Theatre Stage. It will be accompanied by the Montgomery Chorale Ensemble and a small orchestra under the direction of Dr. James Seay.

“Favorite Dances of Christmas” showcases a collage of dances set to beautiful Christmas carols and songs, with classics including “First Noel” , “I Saw Three Ships”, “We Three Kings”,  “Sleighride” and “I’ll be Home for Christmas”.  Mistletoe will also feature new works “In the Bleak Midwinter” choreographed by Sara Sanford and “O Come All Ye Faithful” choreographed by Janie Alford. Other favorites returning to the stage will include “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”, “Mela Kalekimaka”“Mary Did You Know?” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”.

The Alabama Dance Theatre along with Troy University of Montgomery will host a special open dress rehearsal in honor of our Military and First Responders on Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Davis Theatre. The performance is open to all active duty, retirees, reserve and national guard military personnel, active and retired responders and their families who present a valid government military ID card at the door. Tickets are available at the door the night of the performance and at Maxwell/Gunter ITT.
ADT will also host two special school performances on Friday, November 15 at the Davis Theatre.  Tickets prices for the 9:30 a.m. performance are $7.00 per student. Reservations are required.  Call 334-625-2590.

With support from Kiwanis Club of Montgomery, ADT will also hold a “MPS on Their Toes” performance Friday, November 15 at 11:30.
“MISTLETOE” is made possible by Wells Fargo, Kiwanis Club of Montgomery, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Pickwick Antiques, Central Alabama Community Foundation, WSFA 12 News, Cumulus Broadcasting, along with the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Performances are Saturday, November 16 at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 17 at 2:00 p.m. at The Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. Tickets go on sale Monday, Oct. 21 and range in price from $15 to $30. All tickets are discounted. Tickets are $15.00 for children 12 and under.
