Obvious and Not-So-Obvious Ways to Do Valentine’s Day in Montgomery 2019

Ahh, Valentine’s Day. Another day to remind our dogs we love them. Maple, I’m looking at you.

This year in Montgomery there are a few things you can do to celebrate The Day of Love and I’ve drafted up the possibilities below. Some of these you should probably do with another human but some of them can be done solo. Without further adieu, my ideas:

  1. Order a Raspberry Mocha at Prevail

The drink is not on the menu but I happen to know the Prevail baristas have all the ingredients to make it. As a Prevail barista myself, I promise you it’s a delicious drink. I love when customers mix up our flavors and experiment with new combinations. It can be ordered hot or iced. Pro tip: we have these ingredients year-round, so try ordering it in August if you fall in love with it!

  2. Go on the Harriott II’s Valentine’s Day cruise

Something a little more romantic for you, you can grab a cutie and go for a boat ride! At $155/couple, being trapped on a boat with a bunch of strangers for two hours isn’t particularly interesting to me, so I’m sorry to inform you that I am not interested in being your date. But hey! It comes with roses and champagne flutes. I’m sure you can convince someone to be your boat buddy! (Find out more about it here)

  3. Sip on a cocktail and listen to live music at the Exchange

I must admit: I’ve done this one with three single friends on Valentine’s Day as proud members of the Singles Club. I ended up dating one of the people at the table. For five years. The point is you should do this.

  4. Go to a screening of The Princess Bride

Watch what happens to Buttercup and that guy in the mask at the Capri Theatre in Cloverdale. Tickets and more information available here.

  5. Laugh at Goat Haus

The Brewery Comedy Tour is coming to Goat Haus this Valentine’s Day. It’s a silly enough holiday as it is, in my opinion, and I suspect the comics know that as well. (Click here for more event info)

  6. Get your nerd on at GTSouth

Once again, GTSouth has our social lives covered by hosting an event with other nerds to remind us of our mutual geekiness. Thirsty Thursday will be this Valentine’s Day featuring a game tournament of random selection. (Find out more here)

  7. Go ice skating

There’s an ice rink inside Eastchase Mall and it is seriously underrated. The mall is off Atlanta Highway, which is flanked by plenty of good eats if you’re feeling hungry after. Click here for hours and ticketing info.

  8. Pick up a heart-shaped cookie at Liger’s

Confession: this one is new to me! A friend read my original list and promptly informed me of the famous heart-shaped sugar cookies that come out every year for Valentine’s at Liger’s Bakery. Someone go get me one?

  9. Go for a run with Fleet Feet

The good people at Fleet Feet are taking your singleness into their own hands. They’re hosting a “Match Maker Fun Run” on Valentines Day and will pair you with another runner to walk, run, crawl, and flirt your way to the end of the route with. More details at the event’s Facebook page.

  10. Go to a Girl Scout Cookie and beer pairing

Oh, Tipping Point. You know my needs so well. Head over to eat a bunch of Girl Scout Cookies and discover which beers apparently go best with which treat.
