Parasite at the Capri

February 2, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

From the director of Snowpiercer. 100% on the TomatoMeter. South Korea’s entry for Best Foreign Language picture. On everyone’s top ten list, we waited to show this darkly humorous satirical film until after your visiting family members went home post holidays.
From the director of Snowpiercer.
Jobless, penniless, and, above all, hopeless, the unmotivated patriarch, Ki-taek, and his equally unambitious family – his supportive wife, Chung-sook; his cynical twenty-something daughter, Ki-jung, and his college-age son, Ki-woo – work for peanuts in their squalid basement-level apartment. Then, by sheer luck, a lucrative business proposition paves the way for an insidiously subtle scheme, as Ki-woo summons up the courage to pose as an English tutor for the teenage daughter of the affluent Park family. Slowly, the family take more jobs at the Park home until it’s almost their home, too. How can the Parks get rid of these parasites? Or can the parasites win?
South Korea’s entry for Best Foreign Language Picture and a strong bet for a Best Picture nomination, Parasite is one of the surprise hits of the season.
To join the film club discussion, come to the Monday show and stay afterward. Our host this week will be Anton Jackson, director and co-founder of the Montgomery Film Festival!
