Cinco de Mayo is upon us! Here’s your annual reminder that it’s a celebration of the Mexican army over the French empire (not Mexican Independence Day). While the day has a lesser meaning in Mexico, in America it has evolved to celebrate American-Mexican unity. Here in Montgomery, Cinco de Mayo is a wonderful time for us to try new food and celebrate the burgeoning immigrant population in this town.
Here’s a list of six ways for you to enjoy the day this year:
-
Celebrate early at Pine Bar
The Montgomery County Bar Association Women’s Section will be celebrating at Pine Bar on Thursday, May 2nd with margaritas and appetizers.
-
Listen to mariachi at La Zona Rosa
What’s a Mexican celebration without mariachi music? Head over to La Zona Rosa for their first-ever Sunday opening.
-
Be a Pour Star
Has anyone been to Pour Stars yet? I haven’t had the privilege but I hear they’ll have drink and food specials all night for Cinco de Mayo.
-
Check out one of these glorious taco places
There’s a list of best taco places in Montgomery for all your taco needs.
-
Giddy up at Leroy
The sassy bartenders are at it again at Leroy and are happy to get you all boozed up with their drink specials.
-
Eat a biscuit!
The Montgomery Biscuits have a home game that night! Go celebrate with a Cinco-themed baseball game.
As always, check the Official Events Calendar for the complete guide to what’s good in the Gump.
